Fine Art Giclee Prints
As we all know, technology has changed the way we do most everything. This holds true in the world of art and design as well. The word "digital" has changed everything. The most popular and impressive way to reproduce an original piece of art is to capture the original image digitally, and reproduce it on paper, canvas, or various other mediums.
The word "giclee" (pronounced g-clay) is a French word that simply means "to spray". It is the process where an original piece of art or photograph is captured in a digital format and then reproduced using a commercial high-end fine art inkjet printer. The process is rather high tech, but enables artists to print "limited editions" or unlimited editions while allowing you to keep your original artwork. The most common mediums on which to print is professional grade watercolor paper or canvas.
SUPER IMPORTANT... all giclee's are not equal! The quality and value of the giclee is directly proportional to the quality of the printmaker and materials that are used. Professional quality giclee's will be printed on true giclee canvas and have a UV protective finish applied to protect it from sun damage.
